Search for New Physics in All-Hadronic Final States at CMS
Searches for new physics in hadronic final states are performed using data up to 1 f b −1 collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC at a collsion energy of √ s=7 TeV. No new physics is found and upper limits are set for various models: ADD, unparticle, string resonance, excited quarks, axigluons, Randall-Sundrum gravitons, RPV SUSY gluino, as well as black holes.
متن کاملCKM Reach at Hadronic Colliders
With the hadronic B factories currently under construction or in the design phase B physics will enter a new era. The LHCb, BTeV, ATLAS and CMS experiments all have a time scale for B physics from 2007 onwards. The aim of the experiments is to gain a comprehensive understanding of the CKM matrix for discovering physics beyond the Standard Model. The much larger statistics and the access to Bs d...
متن کاملSoft probes of high density QCD physics with CMS
The CMS experiment at the LHC is a general purpose detector designed to explore physics at the TeV energy scale. It has a large acceptance and hermetic coverage. The various subdetectors are: a silicon tracker with pixels and strips (|η| < 2.4); electromagnetic (|η| < 3) and hadronic (|η| < 5) calorimeters; and muon chambers (|η| < 2.4). The acceptance is further extended with forward detectors...
متن کاملSearches for Supersymmetry with the CMS detector at the LHC
Results of searches for supersymmetry performed using data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV are presented. Searches are performed in all-hadronic final states with jets and missing transverse energy and in final states including one or more isolated leptons or photons. Various data-driven techniques used to measure the Standard Mode...
متن کاملReconstruction and Identification of Hadronic Decays of Taus using the CMS Detector
New Physics beyond the Standard Model could well preferentially show up at the LHC in final states with taus. The development of efficient and accurate reconstrution and identification of taus is therefore an important item in the CMS physics programme. The potentially superior performance of a particle-flow approach can help to achieve this goal with the CMS detector. Preliminary strategies ar...
